About Handyman-Houston
Handyman-Houston is co-owned by the McCollim family, with two generations deeply involved in the home renovation business and the third generation on its way. We consider the greater Houston area our neighbors even though we may not live on your street.
Background
It all started with our Houston siding, window, and roof replacement business: Home Exterior Systems. Over two decades, H-E-S’s reputation and repeat business flourished and grew. Past customers would regularly call us and ask us to consider expanding into interior renovation, remodeling, and handyman services in Houston.
We resisted handyman repairs at first.
Many things changed after a series of weather disasters like Hurricane Harvey and the pandemic. We heard calls for help from our neighbors. Our core business was more unpredictable than ever with skyrocketing material prices (if we could find any). We decided to relent and do some interior work. We took on more repairs, mending, and handyman for customers who already knew us and trusted us with all the “storm chasers” rolling into town.
The customer requests persisted.
Regular calls, emails, and side conversations kept coming. Always asking about handyman services. Apparently, the handyman vocation isn’t what it used to be, and good, dependable, and reliable help is scarce for so many in Houston.
Why are we avoiding the handyman business again?
One day, all of a sudden, we asked ourselves why we were avoiding handyman services. Finding no good answer, we finally said let’s do this. Let’s go for it and see what happens. Wow. This is fun!
We had no idea how much demand there was for our handyman services.
Our crews of craftsmen collectively have many decades of experience and highly diversified skills. Most of them have, at one time or another, been a part of our exterior business family. They are trusted friends.
